Flooring product resourcesMost complaints concerning hardwood floors are related to changes in the moisture content of flooring and surrounding wood products. Other problems may also be associated with wood flooring: however, the following information relates to the effects of moisture on flooring. When moisture changes are severe, the result can be gaps between strips, cupping, buckling, movement, and/or cracks/splits in the flooring. Also, a combination of these results may be present in the same floor. Most people who own radiant floor heating
feel that the most important advantages are comfort and quiet operation.
Radiant floor systems allow even heating throughout the whole floor, not
just in localized spots as with wood stoves, hot air systems, and other
types of radiators. The room heats from the bottom up, warming the feet
and body first. Radiant floor heating also eliminates the draft and dust
problems associated with forced-air heating systems.
