Get rid of ink stains

Submitted by Todd Marcello of Washington

You can find many products on the market to help you clean up stains. There are also many ways that you can clean up stains without using chemicals at all. But when you have a spill, you need answers immediately! Here is a great solution for handling ballpoint pen ink stains.

Step 1. Get the isopropyl rubbing alcohol from the medicine cabinet. If you don’t have any, you can buy it at your local grocery store.

Step 2. Pour the alcohol onto a clean, white cloth or white paper towel.

Step 3. Blot the stain until as much ink as possible has been removed.

Step 4. Be careful to blot in only one direction so that you don’t spread the stain. Keep blotting until the stain has been removed.

If this solution is not successful, try an ammonia solution. Mix one teaspoon of clear household ammonia in a half a cup of water. You can apply this solution from in a spray bottle or directly to the carpet. Don’t wet the carpet's backing when you apply the solution. After applying the solution, blot with white paper towels, then allow the carpet to dry completely.
